We launch new Gender Identity Policy & Support Plan

At Community Integrated Care, we’re committed to fostering an inclusive and supportive workplace where every colleague can thrive.

To mark Transgender Awareness Week, and as part of our commitment to our colleagues, we’re pleased to introduce our new Gender Identities Policy. This is designed to support our transgender, non-binary and gender-diverse colleagues, ensuring they feel safe, respected and valued at work.

Alongside the new policy is a Transition Support Action Plan template – aconfidential and flexible document designed to assist employees who are transitioning. The plan ensures all information is treated with utmost confidentiality, tailors support to meet the unique needs of each individual, and provides guidance on managing and addressing all aspects of transition.

Partnering with the Employers Network for Equality and Inclusion (ENEI), we have delivered specialised training to our Regional People Teams to ensure they are well-equipped to support our Transgender colleagues. This training covered Understanding Gender Identity, Supporting Transition, and Creating an Inclusive Environment.

Sarah Mahoney, Head of Employee Relations at Community Integrated Care said:  “We’re proud to be launching this new Gender Identities Policy alongside our Transition Support Action Plan. Fostering a supportive and inclusive environment enables a culture of psychological safety, so that colleagues feel like they belong and can truly be themselves.

Sarah continued, “This policy is an important step for us to make as a charity, as we continue our commitment to supporting our colleagues. I invite all colleagues to familiarise themselves with the policy.”
