Congratulations to Outstanding EachStep Blackburn!
Community Integrated Care is proud to announce that the team at EachStep Blackburn has achieved our charity’s second Outstanding CQC rating.
The team were described as “extremely kind and caring” in the inspection report, often going “above and beyond what might normally be expected of them” to make sure that people were living great lives.
The service is led by Phil Benson, who was voted as Best Dementia Care Manager by the National Dementia Awards in 2016. The inspector commented that Phil “led by example and inspired staff to provide the best possible care” and described how he had used his best practice and knowledge of dementia to continuously improve EachStep Blackburn.
Many of Community Integrated Care’s staff engagement projects were highlighted in the inspection, such as Little Acorns (our Employee of the Month Scheme), our Culture Project which aims to transform how it feels to work at Community Integrated Care, the Wellbeing Fund, a central fund for colleagues facing financial hardship, and Summer Stars, our seasonal reward and recognition programme. The home was also praised for its exceptional community links with local groups, including colleges, religious groups and arts groups.
Phil told us of his pride in leading the Outstanding EachStep Blackburn Team: “I’m so proud of everyone at EachStep Blackburn, it’s been a brilliant team effort to get to this point, and I’m delighted that the whole team gets to share in this moment.
Everyone works really hard and creatively to ensure that the people we support live the best life possible, and this grading is testament to the incredible people who contribute to EachStep Blackburn”
Our CEO, Mark Adams, shared his delight: “Huge congratulations to everyone at EachStep Blackburn. Phil and the team are a true inspiration to us all. This is our first Outstanding in Older People’s Services and hopefully the first of many – I urge all of our colleagues to read the report and take inspiration from the great work that happens every day at EachStep Blackburn.”
