Support Worker at House of Commons Portrait
A portrait of a support worker who works for Community Integrated Care is being used in a national campaign to inspire more people to consider a career in adult social care.
The ‘Every Day is Day is Different When You Care’ recruitment campaign, commissioned by the Department of Health and Social Care, was concluded with a photography exhibition displayed in the House of Commons this week, featuring a range of images of people who work in care and the people they support.
Tony Stewart, 28 from Liverpool, is one of only twenty-four carers pictured in the series of portraits and was invited to be one of the first to view the exhibition at the House of Commons in London this week.
At the viewing Tony meet with the Minister of State for Care, Caroline Dinenage, who opened the exhibition and chatted to Tony about his portrait. Tony’s portrait shows him accompanying a person he supports, Liam, to attend a job interview, representing the life enhancing support delivered frequently by care workers in the sector.
The photography exhibition showcases the diversity of roles in the social care sector and celebrates the unsung heroes in the field, all whilst raising the profile of adult social care in the UK.
Mark Adams, CEO of Community Integrated Care, commented “We are delighted to have featured in this inspiring campaign honouring and celebrating our unsung heroes.”
He continued, “Our colleagues deliver world class support every single day – and Tony’s portrait clearly showcases the exceptional person-centred support we provide as a charity, and how we consistently strive to assist the people we support to reach their goals.”
Tony says: “The thing I enjoy most about being a Support Worker, is assisting people to reach their full potential. I really enjoy coming into work and having a chat, as well as a laugh and a joke with Liam to see what he has been up to throughout the week.
“Liam now has such a passion for life, and I am so happy to see this difference which I feel is partly down to myself and also the great team at Community Integrated Care too, who have taken the time to invest in Liam’s wellbeing.”
