Two Top Accolades At Care Awards

Last night Community Integrated Care was honoured with not one, but two prestigious accolades at the 22^nd National Care Awards. The ceremony – which this year was held virtually – recognises the very best of the social care sector. As one of the UK’s leading health and social care charities, we were thrilled to be included amongst such an impressive array of nominees, particularly in a year that has shone such a strong spotlight on so many inspiring stories from our sector.

Firstly, the team EachStep Blackley Care Home in Manchester, led by Care Home Manager Michelle Phillips, won the “Outstanding Care in a Crisis” award recognising the incredible efforts of the team throughout the Coronavirus pandemic and showcasing the extraordinary professionalism of everyone connected to the home.

Judges chose EachStep Blackley as they felt they demonstrated “outstanding transparency, together with the ability to maintain the wellbeing of residents and staff, as well as having a commitment to ensuring a safe and high quality of care”.

Following the home’s success, Community Integrated Care’s CEO picked up the hallmark of the night, “Care Personality”. The award which is selected by an independent panel is given to the person judges believe have made a big contribution to the care sector within the past 12 months.

The judges commented “one voice emerged during the covid-19 crisis to capture public and political attention. With Government statements and action jarring with social care’s lived experience and distress, Mark Adams spoke out knowledgably with passion and anger, he made politicians wince and care sector cheer as his devastating critique of government neglect went viral”.

Earlier this year, Mark, Michelle and the team at EachStep Blackley took part in the BBC One Panorama documentary, The Forgotten Frontline. The programme captured the exceptional efforts and extraordinary professionalism by the dedicated care teams and everyone at the charity when battling against an outbreak of Coronavirus within the home.
