Triumph at Great British Care Awards

Community Integrated Care took home two top honours and was shortlisted for a further four accolades at the Great British Care Home Awards, which were held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel on Saturday (26^th).

Adrienne Ratcliffe, Registered Nurse at its St Luke’s Care Home in Runcorn, collected the ‘Dignity in Care’ Award. Over the past year Adrienne has supported the specialist dementia care home to achieve the NHS Gold Standard for End of Life Care, given exceptional training to her colleagues and supported the home to undertake an innovative partnership with Halton CCG. Judges remarked that Adrienne’s “passion for dignity shone through”.

Also victorious on the night was Christine Cundall, Care and Activity Worker at Community Integrated Care’s flagship dementia service, EachStep Blackley in Manchester, who won the ‘Care Home Worker’ Award. Christine was described by the judging panel as “intelligent and thoughtful about what she does, with an understanding of the issues facing families and society”.

Community Integrated Care was represented in four further categories at the prestigious ceremony. It was shortlisted in the ‘Best Employer’ category, recognising its significant organisational transformation programme, which aims to see the organisation become the ‘UK’s Leading Health and Social Care Charity’ over the coming four years.

The Great British Care Home Awards are one of the social care sectors top honours, paying tribute to individuals and organisations who deliver excellent services and inspirational care. The event was hosted by singer and TV presenter Jane McDonald.

Michelle Phillips, manager at EachStep Blackley, was up for the ‘Care Home Registered Manager Award’, while Joy Elliot, Head Chef at Carlingwark Care Home in Dumfries and Galloway, was nominated for the ‘Nutrition & Hydration’ Award. Completing Community Integrated Care’s presence on the shortlist was Charlotte Grange Care Home in Hartlepool, who were finalists in the ‘Putting People First’ category, recognising their high standards of End of Life Care.
