We win at The Great Yorkshire Care Awards!
Community Integrated Care is delighted to have been awarded a top care sector honour for one of its pioneering partnership programmes at yesterday’s Great Yorkshire Care Awards (21st July).
Our charity proudly took home the ‘Care Innovator Award’, recognising our world-first partnerships with The Rugby League World Cup 2021 (RLWC 2021), Super League and The Rugby Football League.
The partnership saw our charity create a ground-breaking inclusive volunteering programme, supporting over 300 people with care needs to access a range of accessible and aspirational volunteering opportunities. Opportunities so far have included the creation of community gardens and facilitating media training clubs for people supported.
The ‘Care Innovator Award’ recognises those that have shown exceptional entrepreneurial skills in identifying, developing or establishing a new service that provides benefits for organisations and the people it supports.
At the event, Community Integrated Care was also nominated for ‘The Care Employer Award’, an accolade which celebrates an employer’s commitment to care and how this is achieved through the delivery of excellent care and a high-quality managing environment.
Last night’s award ceremony took place in The National Railway Museum, York, and forms part of the Great British Care Award’s regional events that celebrate excellence across the sector. The ceremonies continue to take place throughout this month across other regions, with Community Integrated Care celebrating 24 finalists in total. Winners from the regional events will go through to a National Finals taking place later this year.
John Hughes, Director of Communities and Partnerships at Community Integrated Care, says, “To be involved in a collaboration that puts inclusivity and accessibility at its core is really special, and I’m thrilled that the dedication shown by Community Integrated Care, The Rugby League World Cup 2021, Super League and The Rugby League to make this a reality has been recognised.”
He continued, “Everyone should have an equal opportunity to take part in remarkable sporting events such as the Rugby League World Cup, and whilst the official partnering of a social care charity with a sporting event is a world first, we only hope that it paves the way for many more partnerships like this in the future and more inclusivity within the sporting world”.
