Speaking at the Conservative Conference

Community Integrated Care’s Chief People Officer, Teresa Exelby, will be joining politicians and key spokespeople within the social care sector at the Future Social Care Coalition (FSCC) Conservative Party Conference on Tuesday 5th October, representing our sector’s 1.6m dedicated care workers and outlining to the Government what they need and deserve.

The Future Social Care Coalition (FSCC) is a cross-party and cross sector group made up of senior politicians, employer groups and the largest union in social care, established in 2020 to highlight to the government the urgent need for a reform within social care – including parity of esteem for the social care sector with the NHS; a comprehensive social care workforce strategy designed to generate skills training, professionalism and improve pay and conditions for social care workers; and a substantial and immediate funding boost for social care.

The FSCC’s upcoming conference ‘Get Social Care Done: Time for a Social Care People Plan’ provides a forum for representatives from the sector to share their views with politicians from the Conservative party, and to keep up the pressure on the government to ‘get social care done’.

Our charity is proud to be joining the conference to highlight the urgency of the social care workforce crisis and present the facts to the politicians and policy makers in attendance. Last week, Community Integrated Care’s Director of Partnerships & Communities, John Hughes, shared our organisation’s views at the Labour Party Conference. A similar discussion will take place at this event, around why workforce reform critical to getting social care done.

The panel for the fringe event includes:

Teresa Exelby, Chief People Officer at Community Integrated Care, said:

“The Prime Minister pledged to fix the crisis in social care ‘once and for all’ but the Government’s plan to fix social care doesn’t go far enough. Real change is needed now more than ever.

I will be joining the conference to ensure that the voices of the 1.6 million dedicated care workers in the UK are heard, highlighting the reality of low pay in the social care sector and and outlining to the Government what our workforce need and deserve.”

The conference will be held at Exchange 6&7, Manchester Central on Tuesday 5th October and will run from 6.00pm – 7.30pm.
