Greenacres wins prestigious care sector award
Community Integrated Care is proud to celebrate our Greenacres service being awarded a prestigious care sector accolade at this year’s Great South East Care Awards, for their outstanding contribution to the sector.
The team at our Greenacres service in South Chailey won the ‘Putting People First Award’ in recognition of their incredible work opening the service in the midst of the pandemic and delivering exceptional personalised support to each individual.
The award recognises a team that has truly embraced the ‘Putting People First’ agenda and demonstrates an innovative approach to empowering people to have more control over the support they need in their lives.
Originally built in the 1980s, the East Sussex County Council-owned property was rebuilt and specially designed for those with Learning Disabilities and Autism with purpose built curved walls and modular furniture.
Working closely with local authorities, health teams and NHS England, Greenacres works to provide the best support possible to individuals, whilst also increasing their access to the community and reducing the restrictions and restraints that people would have on their lives in an institutional setting.
Liz Donnelly, Regional Manager at Community Integrated Care, said:
“I am delighted that the team at Greenacres has been recognised for the outstanding personalised support that the service delivers to each and every individual in our care.
Throughout the pandemic, the team worked tirelessly to recruit and train colleagues to deliver the best person-centred support possible. It has been incredible to see the journey that the team has taken, from opening during lockdown to receiving this award today. I am blown away by the resilience and innovation of our colleagues who have made the service such a success, despite facing such challenging circumstances.”
Rebekah Adey Managing Director at Community Integrated Care, said:
“We are incredibly proud of the team at Greenacres for winning the ‘Putting People First’ Award at this year’s Great British Care Awards South East.
As a care provider, we are dedicated to delivering world class support so that people with care needs can live the best lives possible. The team at Greenacres epitomise our charity’s original core vision – supporting people with care needs to move from institutional hospitals and empowering them to live fuller, better lives within the community – and truly showcase our commitment to putting people first.”
Simon McGurk, Head of Learning Disability Assessment & Care Management at East Sussex County Council, said:
“We would like to congratulate Community Integrated Care’s Greenacres service for this fantastic achievement. The staff and management team at Greenacres have contributed significantly to the excellent performance of the East Sussex Transforming Care Learning Disability and Autism Programme due to their personalised approach, can do attitude and focus on the needs of the person rather than labels. This means that people are living more rewarding and fulfilling lives outside of institutions, who previously had been patients for far too long.”
He continued: “The Greenacres team have been absolutely amazing to work with, especially during the challenges faced by the whole social care system throughout the pandemic, because of their focus on doing right by the most vulnerable members of our society. They have reminded me why I went into this job in the first place and of what can happen when we work together with individuals to achieve transformational care.”
The awards ceremony took place at the Hilton Brighton Metropole, and forms part of the Great British Care Award’s regional events- a series of events throughout the UK. The purpose of the awards is to celebrate and recognise the work of individuals across the sector who have demonstrated outstanding excellence within their field of work.
The Greenacres team are now through to the Great British care Awards National Finals which will take place in March 2022.
