Wrestling star inspires fans with learning disabilities
WWE Superstar Ashton Smith tag teamed with Community Integrated Care to deliver a unique accessible sports session, inspired by the stars of pro-wrestling.

Ashton dazzled participants, playing imaginative games such as ‘The Rock Says’, a spin-off of the classic party game ‘Simon Says’. He also challenged participants to get moving and strike a pose, taking inspiration from the signature finisher moves of WWE superstars such as Roman Reigns, Becky Lynch and ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin. The session was concluded with a unique cool-down activity, with participants stretching to movements inspired by raising the WWE Championship belt.
As an Ambassador for the charity, Ashton is committed to partnering with Community Integrated Care to inspire people who access social care to have fun and get active.
He said: “This session was incredible. I couldn’t believe how creative, exciting, and fun it was. The experience had such a profound impact me, seeing the joy on everyone’s faces as they connected with WWE and each other.
Community Integrated Care supports people to live their best lives possible, so very I’m proud to support their cause as an Ambassador. It means a lot to me that I can play a role in inspiring people to enjoy the benefits of exercise. I am excited to support more experiences like this in the future.”
Oliver Thomason, Sports Inclusion Assistant for Community Integrated Care, says: “It was an honour to help design and lead this accessible sports session on What To Do, working with Ashton. I love WWE, so it was a real dream come true to work with one of my heroes.
As someone who has a learning disability, I think that it very important that people have access to free, fun, and accessible activities. This is just one of the amazing experiences that people can have on our What To Do website. I’d encourage anyone who is looking to find fun new things to do to visit our site and see what it can offer to them.”
