Southern Region supports Macmillan

Colleagues of and people supported by Community Integrated Care in the South of England raised over £1000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Our services and Southern Regional Office took part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, whilst a member of our local management team dared to ‘Brave the Shave’, sheering her locks to fundraise for the charity.

Community Integrated Care supports hundreds of people across the south of England, who have learning disabilities, mental health concerns and autism, enabling them to lead full and independent lives.

We held a number of coffee morning events in our local services, as well as in our Wickham based regional office.  These saw colleagues and people we support bake delicious cakes and welcome members of the local community and our partners, for fun and inclusive celebrations.

Suzanne Nolan, Service Leader, also shaved her head for Macmillan, supporting their ‘Brave the Shave’ campaign. Suzanne, who was inspired to take part having had family members experience cancer, raised over £700.

Sam Leath, Regional Director for Community Integrated Care in the South, says: “Cancer is a disease that touches the lives of many people, so we were keen to play our part in fundraising to help people receive the support that they need. Our charity is committed to enabling people we support to enjoy great experiences, contribute to their community and gain new life skills. By developing new baking skills and being part of this event, the people we support really gained a lot from being part of the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.”

Many other services provided by Community Integrated Care across England and Scotland also took part in the campaign.
