The Mullion celebrate glowing inspection
Our colleagues and people we support at The Mullion in Portsmouth are proud to have achieved a fantastic result in their latest Care Quality Commission Inspection.
Praised for their person-centred approach to care and working in the best interests of the people they support, the team at The Mullion achieved ratings of ‘Good’ across the board.
The inspection covered the safety, effectiveness, and leadership of the service, with inspectors commending how “people were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives” and that colleagues “supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests”.
Reflecting on the leadership of the team, inspectors also highlighted how managers were passionate about person-centred support. Particular note was given to how effectively colleagues were managed, enabling them to dedicate enough of their time to each person supported, to meet their needs and to promote their independence. They also noted how colleagues felt really included and confident in making suggestions about the support provided.
During the visit, they also highlighted the involvement of loved ones in the planning and delivery of care. They applauded how our colleagues enabled people to safely maintain contact with their family members and how the team included the people they support and their families in the development of the service.
Lisa Bodle, Service Leader for The Mullion, said, “I’m so proud of team for achieving this fantastic result. I know it means so much to them. They’ve made superb progress over the past year and really pulled together to deliver personalised, high-quality care. This result is a testament to their teamwork and commitment to the people we support.”
Rebekah Adey, Managing Director for Community Integrated Care, said, “We are delighted that The Mullion has received such a brilliant report, being rated ‘Good’ across the board. It’s great to see the team’s proactive approach to person-centred support recognised by inspectors, as this is something we’re really passionate about throughout our charity.”
She continued, “It’s also wonderful to see the team’s relationships with families and local health care professionals celebrated. Working with our local communities, families and the people we support to develop the services we provide is such an important part of what we do, and really enables us to help people have choice and independence, and live fulfilling lives.”
