We Celebrate Black History Month
Throughout October, Community Integrated Care has been proud to celebrate Black History Month recognising the important contributions of Black people, both throughout history and within our organisation.
In this spirit, our charity was delighted to host a special Black History Month disco. Hosted by famous Rapper and Producer, Nutty P, the disco celebrated Black artists across a wide range of genres and was hosted for free on What-To-Do.co.uk – Community Integrated Care’s inclusive online activity platform.
Later in the month, Candice York, Managing Director for our Central region and Executive sponsor of our charity’s Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Network, shared her insights about what Black History Month means to her.

She said, “For me, the thing I’m probably most proud of in terms of Black history is the impact that Jamaican culture has had across the world.”
“Half of my family are from Jamaica originally, and when I travel across the world, I see the influence that Jamaican culture has had. It’s really wonderful to see that such a tiny island has had such a massive impact.”
To raise awareness around the fantastic achievements of Black individuals, our Wellbeing, Diversity and Inclusion Specialist, Anita Amurun, also shared some of the most inspiring people with Black Heritage to her.
Our Wellbeing, Diversity & Inclusion Specialist Anita Amurun has shared some incredibly inspiring people, celebrating #BlackHistoryMonth, including…@NKrystal, Ghanaian-British entrepreneur, innovator & @BlackGirlFest CEO!🎉

Finally, to round out the month, we shared some delicious recipes from Black cultures, as well as an extensive resources list, covering everything from wellness websites to thought-provoking podcasts.
