Dame Joan Stringer Visits St Luke’s!
St Luke’s Care Home welcomed a very special guest last week, when Community Integrated Care’s Chair of the Board of Trustees Dame Joan Stringer visited the Runcorn-based service!
Dame Joan was given a guided tour by Home Manager Sue Ashcroft, and Community Integrated Care’s Deputy CEO, Cath Murray-Howard. St Luke’s is a specialist care service in Halton that supports 56 people who are living dementia.
Dame Joan toured St Luke’s many themed areas, including its cinema, pub, seaside-themed room, indoor gardens, 1950’s kitchen and the newly-opened sweet shop! On her visit, Dame Joan met residents and heard all about the changes in the home over the last 18 months.
The visit ties in with the home’s preparations for the Skills For Care Accolades Ceremony taking place next month. Community Integrated Care, alongside its partners at Halton Borough Council and Halton CCG, is up for the ‘Most effective approach to integration and new models of care’ Award. This is in recognition of its thriving integrated partnership that has turned a formerly tired, at risk care home into a genuine centre of excellence.
Sue Ashcroft, Home Manager at St Luke’s, says: “It was a real honour for us to welcome Dame Joan to St Luke’s and I’d like to thank her for taking the time to visit us.
We always welcome the opportunity to showcase the great work that goes on here and it was lovely to receive recognition and praise from our chairperson.”
