‘Glasto’ comes to What To Do

As Elton John prepares for his farewell appearance at Glastonbury on Sunday night, people that access social care across the UK were treated to a special performance by their very own Rocket Man on Wednesday evening.

Community Integrated Care was delighted to stage an exclusive performance from one of the country’s leading Elton John tributes, Forever Elton, also known as Phil Mountford.

Streamed live to people who access care and support across the UK, via our charity’s innovative online platform – www.What-To-Do.co.uk – it gave participants the opportunity to enjoy their very own ‘Glasto’ experience from the comfort of their own homes.

The event marked the start of a new series of summer events on ‘What To Do’, which enables people that access social care the chance to enjoy life-enhancing and free experiences with the support of major names and world-class partners.

Sam Turner, Digital Inclusion Manager at Community Integrated Care, was delighted with the opening event. He explained: “For the people that we support to enjoy their very own Elton John Glastonbury experience on the week that this year’s festival takes place was very special.”

“Forever Elton played a whole host of unforgettable hits that allowed everyone to get fully into the festival spirit while in familiar surroundings. Now we can’t wait for a whole summer of brilliant experiences on ‘What To Do’.”

Developed by Community Integrated Care, What To Do has been created to support our organisation’s mission of enabling people to live ‘The Best Lives Possible’. The platform received the prestigious ‘Best Initiative’ award at the 2022 National Care Awards for its impact and innovation and has delivered over 30,000 hours of special experiences.

What To Do has already facilitated many once-in-a-lifetime moments, from dance classes with the stars of Strictly Come Dancing to cookery experiences hosted by Great British Bake-Off contestants. With the backing of esteemed personalities such as Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan, Liverpool FC Women’s captain Gemma Bonner, dance legends Ian Waite and Vincent Simone, and WWE star Ashton Smith, the program has made countless dreams come true.

Last night’s Forever Elton performance has kicked off a stacked calendar of thrilling experiences spread across the summer, including:

• June 28th: Pride Disco at 7pm – Celebrate Pride with an iconic party featuring hits from the LGBTQIA+ community.
• July 12th: Walk on the Wild Side at 7pm – Discover how to enjoy exciting sensory and active experiences in nature with the RSPB
• July 19th: Women’s World Cup Special at 7pm – Enjoy an exhilarating activity experience that builds life skills and confidence with the support of football legends
• August 2nd: Going for Gold at 7pm – Delve into the world of table tennis and be inspired by the life story of gold medal-winning Paralympian, Jack Hunter-Spivey

What To Do is carefully co-produced with ‘The Doers’ – a team of individuals who enjoy exciting experiences and contribute ideas for unique events, sharing their lived experience of accessing social care. Community Integrated Care warmly welcomes anyone who wishes to contribute to this forum and help shape future ideas for the site.

Sam added: “We are thrilled to unveil the new look of ‘What To Do’. This Summer season represents a vibrant array of events and experiences. We hope it will become a weekly fixture for many people who access care and support across the country.”
