Carlingwark Thanked For Outstanding Care
Carlingwark House Care Home in Castle Douglas has been donated £1000 in recognition of its excellent care and support.
The home, which supports 30 people with age-related care needs and dementia, has been given the kind donation thanks to the support of Leigh Riddell, whose grandmother lived at Carlingwark, and her employer, Boots.
Leigh’s grandmother sadly passed away in the same week that she held an annual charity fundraising event at Auchenlaire Holiday Park. To give back to the home for the outstanding support it provided her grandmother and celebrate her memory, she arranged for the donation of a luxury break at the holiday park to support Carlingwark, which reached £500 at auction.
The home received a further boost when Boots kindly matched the donation this month, to make the total raised a fantastic £1,000.
Shirley McTeir, Manager at Carlingwark House, says: “We would like to thank Leigh and Boots for their incredible kindness. Their donations will help us to develop two wonderful sensory gardens for the people we support, giving them lovely spaces to enjoy activity and relaxation.”
Leigh added: “It was a pleasure to be able to support Carlingwark House. I’m pleased have been able to give back to Carlingwark House because that they did so much for my grandmother, and still do for my grandfather, who lives at the home.”
