Celebrating an award-winning month!
Throughout March, Community Integrated Care was proud to be shortlisted for six prestigious accolades across two major national awards ceremonies – including a big win for one of the charity’s North East teams.
On Friday 17th March, our team at Kirkdale House in Thornaby were delighted to celebrate winning a top honor at the Great British Care Awards National Finals in Birmingham. They were thrilled to take home the ‘Housing with Care Award’, recognising them as amongst the best Supported Living services in the UK.
Lauren Fisher, Service Leader at Kirkdale House, said, “We were absolutely delighted to win! I am beyond proud of the whole team. On a daily basis, they manage a variety of complex challenges for the people we support but remain dedicated to keeping people safe whilst always looking for new ways to support individuals to meet their needs, achieve their goals and aspirations, and to live the best life possible. This award is so well-deserved and a fantastic recognition of all of the amazing things that they do.”
We were also proud to have another four finalists at the event, including Highly Commended recognitions across all of the categories our charity was shortlisted for:
- Holmdale – The Care Home Team Award, Highly Commended
- Our partnership with Rugby League World Cup 21 – The Care Innovator Award, Highly Commended
- West Lodge – The Putting People First Award, Highly Commended
- Albert Street – The Putting People First Award

Also achieving national recognition, on Monday 27th March our Technology Enabled Care (TEC) project celebrated an important milestone, with its first award nomination at the TSA (TEC Services Association)’s annual International Technology Enabled Care (ITEC) Awards.
The project was shortlisted as a finalist for Workforce Development in TEC Award, celebrating the incredible work of our teams to build and launch a new, innovative model for an On Call out of hours service, and the successful pilot undertaken with our teams in Scotland, to provide our Service Leaders with an improved work-life balance.
Joanna Scammell, Managing Director of Technology Enabled Care, said: “We are delighted to have our work recognised by these prestigious awards and I’m incredibly proud of everything achieved so far.”
“We’re excited to be part of transforming our special sector by embracing the new possibilities that Technology Enabled Care provides. It’s just the beginning of an exciting future ahead for our TEC services and I hope this will be the first of many awards to come for this ground-breaking work.”
