CIC honoured at University Awards
The team at Barnhill Road in Liverpool were recently awarded the ‘Best Placement’ award at the Liverpool John Moores University Faculty Student Awards.
Barnhill Road has accepted student placements for the last 15 years and usually welcome 8-10 students per year. This award, nominated by JMU students, recognises a placement that has gone above and beyond to provide an outstanding learning experience.
Barnhill Road faced stiff competition from Whiston Hospital Maternity Ward and Children’s Ward, as well as other Community Nurse and District Nurse groups to scoop the award. The team were nominated by placement students who commented that “this was the placement that they would take with them through their nursing careers.”
The panel also remarked: “The staff at Barnhill Road treat each resident as an individual and help them live their lives to the full. We were welcomed as part of the team straight away, and everyone was so homely and relaxed.”
Bernie Hardy, Home Manager at Barnhill Road, credited the nurses for their passion and hard-work: “The students who come here are a credit to nursing. They are extremely dedicated and to see them develop into talented nurses who really make a difference makes me very proud.”
Bernie continues: “I am so proud of my team for this award, when someone external comes in and says these kind things, it is very humbling. We feel as a team that we really do put the extra work in. I would like to thank my team for their hard work and commitment to ensuring standards are always met and exceeded.”
