CIC marks Dementia Awareness Week
Community Integrated Care’s flagship dementia service, EachStep Blackley, has held a celebration tea party to mark Dementia Awareness Week.
The event brought together people supported by EachStep, staff, external health care professionals and members of the local community to celebrate how dementia care can give people full and happy lives.
The day culminated in a symbolic release of 200 balloons, which represents the service’s soaring ambitions for improving the standard dementia care. The balloon release offered a poignant moment of reflection.
Michelle Phillips, Manager at EachStep Blackley, said: “The vision of the Alzheimer’s Society, that we should be more inclusive and supportive of people with dementia, is something we very much believe in at EachStep.
Dementia can be an isolating condition, so at EachStep we seek to continuously involve members of the local community and our partners to deliver a life-enhancing service. By hosting this event we have helped to raise awareness and celebrate the great work in Manchester to help us become a dementia-friendly community.”
