Care Leader on BBC Radio Leicester

A Community Integrated Care Service Leader has recently starred on a local radio station, BBC Radio Leicester, after being invited to share with listeners how she achieved her success following being presented the ‘Leadership Award’ at the National Care Awards. BBC Radio Leicester

Gillian Edwards, who is a Service Leader for South-Central region for both our Gilmorton Flats and Carberry Close services, was invited into the studio by presenter Ben Jackson talking about what it means to work in social care and her journey to winning the prestigious accolade.

Gillian was awarded her accolade in November after judges said, “Gillian is a natural leader, evidencing excellent leadership skills, putting the resident’s needs at the forefront of all decisions and ensuring staff are supported from the very start. The Judges felt that she is an excellent, innovative and reflective manager”.

On the show, Gill explained how important her team was behind her success saying, “I wouldn’t be here without the support of my amazing team. We work tirelessly to make sure the people we support all live great lives.” The BBC presenter, Ben Jackson, commented on how powerful the statement was that Gill used throughout her interview, on how our charity “enabling people to live the fullest lives possible”.

Gill throughout the interview shone a positive light on the social care sector stating, “Caring is what makes me tick. I can’t imagine not doing it. It’s just a great place to be and a great organisation to work for.”
