Dementia Awareness Week celebrated at Community Integrated Care
Dementia Awareness Week was marked in style last week by Community Integrated Care services throughout the country with a series of celebrations and events.
The campaign, held annually by the Alzheimer’s Society, encourages people who are living with dementia, or are worried for someone who is, to talk about their fears and concerns with the aim of raising awareness of the condition.
St Luke’s Care Home in Runcorn held a ‘Dementia Friends Day’ for staff, residents and their families, and brought on board 22 new ‘Dementia Friends’ – who pledged to do their bit to make everyday life a little easier for those with dementia.
Alan Howells, Clinical Specialist at EachStep Blackley, took part in an event held in partnership with the Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust’s Health and Wellbeing Service to raise awareness of physical health in dementia.
Green Heys Care Home in Liverpool held an afternoon tea. While listening to classics on the old record player and enjoying homemade cakes, residents reminisced about good times and memories with their loved ones.
