Deputy Mayor opens Bewsey House
The Deputy Mayor of Warrington (Cllr Graham Friend) joined Community Integrated Care on Wednesday 4th January to celebrate the opening of our new Supported Living service – Bewsey House – in Warrington.
Bewsey House sees the renovation of a former care home, which has been transformed into thirteen state-of-the-art, modern apartments.
Developed by our charity in collaboration with Inclusion Housing, Warrington Borough Council, and AMA Property Group, the service will support people with learning disabilities, autism and complex care needs to live independently in their own homes.
The open day saw members of the community come together, joining the Deputy Mayor in celebrating the rejuvenation of the old home, and the opportunity this provides for local people who access care and support.
Paula Dodman Head of Operations for North West at Community Integrated Care, said, “It has been fantastic to see the transformation of Bewsey House over the past 18 months. The Open Day was a great celebration of all of the hard work that has gone into this service. It’s been brilliant to work so closely with Warrington Borough Council, and local housing providers and developers, to take a property that was rooted in the area’s history and transform it into modern, beautiful homes for local people who access care and support.”
She continued, “Community Integrated Care was founded over 34 years ago, with a vision of empowering people with care and support needs to live independently within their community. Bewsey House encapsulates this vision. The service gives people their own front door and real choice in the support they receive, so that they can gain more independence, develop life skills, and live the best lives possible.”
Deputy Mayor, Councillor Graham Friend, said upon seeing the apartments: “[Bewsey House] is just absolutely fantastic. We’ve got to be doing this more.”
Ehsan Akram, CEO and Owner of AMA Property Group, said, “[This service] is all about giving something back to the community. One of our main tests when renovating the building was making sure that we would want to live in the apartments that we are providing.”
