Dignity celebrated in the North East

Community Integrated Care services throughout the North East marked Dignity Day with a series of very special events throughout the region.

North East Dignity CelebratesCommunity Integrated Care is one of the UK’s largest social care charities, and runs services throughout the North East to people with learning disabilities, mental health concerns and age-related needs.

Community Integrated Care’s Gateshead Dignity Forum held its ‘Dignity In Action to mark the national initiative, which encourages those in the health and social care sector to promote the choice and respect of the people they support.

The charity hosted a very busy stall at Coulby Newham shopping centre in Middlesbrough on Saturday, which was manned by staff and people supported by Community Integrated Care’s Teesside services,  who were on hand to share knowledge and best practice in care with local shoppers.

Gardner House Care Home in Hartlepool held a coffee day for family and friends, and celebrated the day by promoting their excellence in delivering tailored support.

‘Dignity Day’ is run by the National Dignity Council and is supported by the Government Minister for Care Services, Norman Lamb MP.

Wayne Mason, Regional Director for the North East, says: “We are delighted to have held events that involve the community and the people we support to mark such a special day.”

“Our services are committed to giving the very best in dignified support, and we are proud to support a national campaign that recognises that this is fundamental to delivering great care.”

“We are delighted and excited to be holding such a variety of inclusive events, which draw together the people we support and the local communities.”
