Double win at The Great British North West Care Awards
Community Integrated Care have scooped up two top awards at this year’s Great British North West Care Awards.
The Great British Care Awards, a series of regional awards that celebrate excellence in the field of social care.The awards, which took place in Manchester on Saturday 24th November, saw Community Integrated Care’s exceptional colleagues and pioneering partnerships nominated for an amazing 12 accolades.
The prestigious ceremony saw our Extra Care Registered Manager, Andrea Lyon, win ‘The Housing with Care Award’ and our Support Worker, Vicki Tarbuck, win ‘The Care Newcomer Award’. Both Andrea and Vicki work in Community Integrated Care’s Eliot Gardens Extra Care scheme which supports 35 people with predominately mental health and learning disabilities.
The entire team at Eliot Gardens was also shortlisted for ‘The Care Home Team Award’, with Shauna Cottingham-Brown, a Support Worker from Eliot Gardens also shortlisted for ‘The Care Newcomer Award’ along with Julie Davies who was nominated for the ‘Dementia Carer Award’.
Over the last year the team at Eliot Gardens, located in Wigan, has been completely reformed to deliver outstanding care to the people we support. In particular, Andrea was commended for her development and leadership of the new team at Eliot Gardens, whilst also celebrated for her involvement in creating several pioneering partnerships across the North West region.
Regional Manager, Paula Dodman, commented on Eliot Gardens’ success on the night saying, “I am exceptionally proud of the entire team at Eliot Gardens for their hard work and commitment throughout the year, to be shortlisted for four awards is a massive achievement and highlights the incredible efforts of the team.”
Other shortlisted nominees included our charity as a whole being nominated for ‘The Care Employer Award’, and two of our exceptional Care Home Managers being nominated for ‘The Care Home Registered Manger Award’, Michelle Phillips and Tina Callen. Our innovative partnerships with Rugby clubs Widnes Vikings and St Helens RFC were also celebrated on the evening, having been put forward for ‘The Putting People First Award’.
Mark Adams, CEO of Community Integrated Care, who attended the awards on Saturday evening congratulated all of the nominees saying, “To be nominated for 12 accolades at this prestigious ceremony is absolutely fantastic and I am incredibly proud of all of our team at Community Integrated Care.”
The winners are now through to the National finals of the Great British Care Awards, taking place in March 2019, celebrating excellence in social care and paying tribute to incredible individuals.
