Hull KR Host Super League Festival

More than 100 people with learning disabilities and autism fulfilled their Super League dreams this weekend, as they represented the clubs that they love at one of rugby league’s most iconic stadiums.

Hull KR hosted the latest Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League festival on Sunday 11^TH of August, at the KCOM Craven Park. Featuring 12 teams, representing Castleford Tigers, St Helens, Hull KR, Widnes Vikings, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, York City Knights and Leeds Rhinos, and more than 100 players, the event represented a fantastic showcase of the growing sport.

The festival coincided with Hull KR’s annual Family Funday. With a large crowd and the chance to rub-shoulders with The Robins’ Betfred Super League first team stars, the day was an unforgettable experience for participants.

The Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League is a collaboration between Super League, the RFL and the national social care charity, Community Integrated Care. It has seen 12 leading rugby league clubs establish accessible teams for people with learning disabilities and autism, with support and training from the charity. Participants play a specially adapted, non-competitive version of the game that they love at special festivals and Super League events.

To see more than 100 people play the sport that they love was fantastic and the excitement on the players’ faces summed up the whole day. Learning Disability Super League is going from strength to strength, and everyone involved deserves a massive pat on the back.”
