Kemp Lodge’s 26th Summer Fayre Hailed a Big Success
Kemp Lodge, our older people’s care home in Liverpool, hosted their 26th annual summer fayre, which saw 150 people enjoy an action packed day of activity to raise money for a music station and cinema room for residents.
The people we support at the home, their families, and staff, enjoyed a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory themed event, with chocolate rivers, candyfloss stalls, and tables full of sweets pleasing sweet-toothed guests. A dedicated fundraising effort saw the home secure a whopping £792, their biggest ever figure for a fun day since opening in 1980.
Kemp Lodge, based in Waterloo, provides residential and nursing care for up to 38 people. The music station, which will play classic vinyl records, and cinema room with blackout blinds, will promote a greater range of activity and support reminiscence for the people we support.
Sefton Opera Band later kept spirits high by performing a two hour set in the home’s garden, with classic songs entertaining the large audience, both young and old.
Collette Gough, Service Manager for the home, said: “We’re lucky enough at Kemp Lodge to have some brilliant people who support us, and their fundraising efforts mean that we can make the home a great place to live. Not only will the music station and cinema modernise our home, it will also give the people we support a special place to enjoy hours of entertainment.”
She continues: “To be able to enjoy the day with our residents and so many families was fantastic. The atmosphere in the garden was brilliant and everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. We’re already looking forward to next year’s fayre!”
