Lady Cumberlege visits our North West Services

Last week, Lady Cumberlege, politician and businesswoman, travelled up from Brighton to come and visit some of Community Integrated Care’s superb North West services. 

The first stop was the Autism Day Service at the Totally Wicked Stadium in St Helens, where Renata Davies (Service Leader), Sharon Eakins (Vocational Support Facilitator) and Carol Jamieson (Facilitator) highlighted the incredible impact of our Vocational Support service by sharing some powerful stories about the people we support. Case studies surrounding supported individuals who have gained work experience in the local community showed how vital this form of support is to allow them to gain independence, confidence and invaluable skills.

With this service taking place at the Totally Wicked Stadium, discussion opened up about our partnerships with several local rugby clubs, and of course, we were delighted to announce our newly-unveiled Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League!

Next, Lady Cumberlege visited The Watchfactory, in Prescot, where Regional Manager, Alia Mumtaz, showcased our innovation in Extra Care. Lady Cumberlege was welcomed into the home of a lady we support, who proudly showed her around her apartment, demonstrating the incredible living spaces that the Watchfactory has to offer. Finally, there was a short tour of the variety of facilities within this scheme, such as the hair salon, bistro and library.

Before leaving, Lady Cumberlege was sure to stop by the display cases to take in the rich history of the Watchfactory building! Returning to Support Services, Lady Cumberlege met with our CEO, Mark Adams, to talk about our upcoming and innovative projects, as well as the future of our wonderful charity. What an exciting and insightful afternoon!
