We step back from X (Twitter)
At Community Integrated Care, our mission has always been to create a more inclusive and compassionate society, where everyone is empowered to live their best life. As part of our commitment to this mission, we have always viewed social media as an essential tool for engagement, connection and campaigning.
We have been active on X (formerly Twitter) since 2011, building a meaningful presence that has enabled us to connect with our community, raise awareness of important issues and amplify voices that need to be heard. However, recent changes to the platform have raised serious concerns about the alignment of X with our core values of inclusivity, diversity and trust. As a result, we have decided to step away from X as a key communications channel for our charity.
Over the coming weeks and months, we will begin to shift our focus to other social media platforms, where we will continue to foster meaningful engagement with our supporters, people we support and partners. This transition will involve strengthening our presence on platforms like LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Bluesky, YouTube and email, which offer a better environment for the conversations we want to be part of.
We acknowledge that X has played a vital role in our outreach and communications, but as an organisation that stands for inclusivity, we must make decisions that are in the best interests of the people we support and the values we uphold. Our decision to transition away from X will be a phased one, ensuring we continue to nurture our existing relationships while we build a stronger presence on alternative platforms. During this time, we will ensure that people who choose on X to contact or connect with us, will still have a way to do so.
We want to reassure our community that this decision has been made after careful consideration of the potential risks and the long-term impact on our ability to deliver meaningful, inclusive content. Should the platform’s direction change in the future, we are open to reassessing our approach, but for now, we feel this is the best course of action to ensure our communication efforts are aligned with our values.
Thank you for your continued support as we make this transition, and we look forward to engaging with you across our other platforms.
