Magic Weekend awaits Learning Disability Super League!

The Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League (LDSL) returns to action at Betfred Super League’s Magic Weekend (Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th August), with over 400 players across an impressive 19 clubs expected to make their playing debut at the home of Leeds United, Elland Road in front of thousands.

LDSL exhibition games will take place on the pitch at half time of Wigan Warriors vs St Helens on Saturday, and half time of Catalans Dragons vs Hull KR on Sunday. A special showcase of theprogramme will also kick off rugby league activity across the weekend, with festivals held at a nearby sports club providing a welcoming experience for all clubs to come together, catch up with friends, celebrate their successes and share in the excitement.

Organised by the RFL in association with our charity, this adapted, non-competitive version of rugby league enables players to represent the clubs that they love on the biggest stages, follow in the footsteps of their Super League idols and enable their independence on and off the field.

In addition to playing activity, a group of people supported by our charity will be enjoying aspirational volunteering opportunities, including supporting the ‘Player of the Match’ presentation live on Sky Sports.

John Hughes, Director of Partnerships and Communities at Community Integrated Care says, “Magic Weekend represents everything that is incredible about Community Integrated Care’s partnership with the sport of Rugby League – people living their dreams, communities coming together, proudly showcasing the potential of a world where every person is valued, included, and enabled.

We are immensely proud of the work of the people behind the scenes that goes into the programme, and would like to thank every club, Foundation, volunteer, family member and support networks who help to make this a reality. And we can’t wait to cheer on and support every player making their debut at the world-renowned Elland Road stadium.

This weekend we will see people enabled to have their greatest dreams come true which is truly magic!”
