Mayor of Sandbach celebrates Care Home Open Day
St Stephens Care Home in Sandbach, Cheshire, part of national social care charity Community Integrated Care, was delighted to welcome Mayor of Sandbach, Cllr Mike Muldoon to the home as part of Care Home Open Day.
Care Home Open Day, now in its 7th year, is a national event which encourages care homes to open their doors to celebrate different themes each year, with a few key values at its heart: friendship, making connections and celebrating older and vulnerable people.
As part of the celebrations Mayor of Sandbach, Cllr Mike Muldoon officially opened the newly created ‘Mason Arms’ thanks to a donation from Ann and Katherine Mason, wife and daughter of the late John Mason, who was a resident in the home and whom the pub has been named after.The Mayor was delighted to meet with the family and friends of the late John Mason.
The Mayor also took the opportunity to chat with residents, their families and staff in the home, enjoying ‘Afternoon Tea’ with everyone.

“It was lovely that the Mayor of Sandbach, Cllr Mike Muldoon, was able to join us on Care Home Open Day and officially open the ‘Mason Arms’. The family were delighted with the area which will now be used by residents and their families as a place to go and have a chat and even enjoy a quiet pint!”

“We are delighted that the Mayor of Sandbach was able to join residents, relatives and all the team as part of our celebration of Care Home Open Day. We would like to thank the family of the late John Mason for their kind donation which enabled us to create the ‘Mason Arms’ and for joining us on the day. We are sure the ‘Mason Arms’ will be well used by residents and relatives.”
