MP David Duguid visits our services in Scotland!

Last week (Friday 11^th March), we were pleased to welcome Conservative MP, David Duguid, to visit our two of our incredible services, Colleonard Court and Sasta House, in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

Given David’s role as MP for Banff and Buchan, the visit provided a brilliant opportunity for both the people we support and our colleagues to meet their local MP and discuss a variety of topics, from the effect of Covid-19 on the social care sector, to the recent growth of Colleonard Court.

At Sasta House, David was greeted by Doreen, one of the people we support, who was keen to welcome him to meet our colleagues and other people supported. Among them, Brian was particularly eager to meet their visitor, while our colleagues were able to tell David about their heroic efforts on how they bravely kept the people we support safe throughout the pandemic.

The visit also included a stop a Colleonard Court for David, where our colleagues shared their stories from the Covid-19 lockdowns and explaining the current restrictions they follow at present to ensure the happiness and health of the people we support across Scotland.

Karen Wood, Regional Manager for Scotland said: “David was interested in how we managed visits during the easing of each lockdown and the ways we’ve re-introduced activities in the community over the past few weeks. We also described how we have recently worked with the local authority to accommodate the need for further Supported Living services in the area – leading Colleonard Court to grow from eight people supported to 13!”

She continued, “It was brilliant to have the opportunity to highlight the amazing work we do across the region and all of the successes of the people we support. Thank you to David for visiting us – it was great to meet you and discuss our work in the community.”

David Duguid commented, “It was a pleasure to be able to visit the team and people supported here at Community Integrated Care’s Colleonard Court and Sasta House services in Banff. I had the opportunity to see first-hand the incredible work our social care colleagues do in the community and I’d like to thank them for everything they’ve accomplished throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.”
