All of Community Integrated Care’s winners will now go forward to the prestigious Great British Care Awards national final in London in April, to represent their region.

The ‘Dignity in Care’ Award, which celebrates a carer who promotes the choice, independence and dignity of the people they support, was collected by John King, Team Leader at Foxe Howe, a supported living tenancy for three adults with learning disabilities. Judges described John as a ‘strong ambassador’ for dignity, who promotes its values to colleagues, the sector and the wider community.

Also triumphant on the night was Joy Elliot, Head Chef at Carlingwark House Care Home in Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway, who won the ‘Nutrition and Hydration’ Award. The panel recognised Joy’s passion and dedication, and commended her for actively encouraging residents to participate in special events.

Community Integrated Care’s third winner was Charlotte Grange Care Home in Hartlepool, who scooped the ‘Putting People First’ Award, thanks to their determination to keep residents wishes at the heart of everything they do.

Also shortlisted at the awards was Cathy Logue, Support Worker at Ardencraig Road, a supported living service for adults with learning disabilities and complex health needs in Glasgow, who was shortlisted for the ‘Care Home Worker’ Award, and Wais Zamani, of Charnwood Lodge Care Home in Dumfries, who was up for the ‘Care Home Registered Manager’ Award.

Community Integrated Care’s Chief Executive, Neil Matthewman, says: “I’d also like to pass on my congratulations to John, Joy and the team at Charlotte Grange, as well as our other North East nominees, who are all so richly deserving of this recognition. They are fantastic representatives for not only our organisation and their region, but the wider social care sector.”
