Our Ashby Road service opens in Leicestershire
Community Integrated Care was delighted to be joined by members of the local community and MP for North West Leicestershire, Amanda Hack, on Friday 26th July to celebrate the opening of Ashby Road – our charity’s new supported living service in Coalville, Leicestershire.
As a state of the art new-build, Ashby Road has been carefully designed from the ground up by our partners Leicestershire County Council, Blue Square Residential and Specialist Supported Living to support 15 people with learning disabilities, autism and physical disabilities to live independently in their own homes.
With innovative design features, such as moveable kitchen worksurfaces and assistive technologies in place, it has been developed with the wellbeing, dignity and independence of people supported at the forefront.
The open day saw members of the community come together alongside MP, Amanda Hack, to welcome their new neighbours, mark the official opening of the service and celebrate the opportunities this provides for local people who access care and support.
The service was officially announced as open with Ben, a person now supported at Ashby Road, cutting the ribbon alongside Amanda and members of his support team.
James Brind, Head of Operations for our charity’s Central region, said, “It’s fantastic to see the community of Coalville come together and celebrate Ashby Road – our charity’s first service in North West Leicestershire. We’re really excited to welcome everyone into their new homes and look forward to supporting them to gain more independence, explore their community and live their best lives possible. We’d like to say a big thank you to all of our partners and everyone who joined us on the day, including MP, Amanda Hack. It was such a warm welcome to the local area, for the people moving in and for our teams too. A special thanks goes to Ben for doing a fantastic job cutting the ribbon and officially declaring the service as open!”
Councillor Christine Radford, Leicestershire County Councillor Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, said, “Living in suitable accommodation with the right support are vital to ensure a person’s wellbeing and to enable people to live an independent life. We are pleased with the scheme that has been developed with partners and look forward to supporting future tenants into their new accommodation”.
