Our charity features on North West Tonight

On Thursday 21st November, colleagues from Community Integrated Care joined BBC North West Tonight for a special feature exploring the Government’s Autumn budget and the impact that this will have across the social care sector.

Our Chief Executive Officer, Jim Kane, was joined by Support Worker, Chantel Ramdeal, who works at our York House service in Cheadle, and Tauseef Iqbal, a person supported at York House, to share their insights and speak up for social care.

Speaking to North West Tonight Health Correspondent, Gill Dummigan, Jim said, “Across the sector there’s enormous worry. We’re a large charity and have the benefit of being reasonably resilient. Lots of providers don’t have huge reserves or cash sat on their balance sheets that they can use as a rainy day fund – all of that has already been sent. This could be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for a significant number of providers. Funding needs to be addressed as a priority – the first step is to have a conversation about how this can be done and for too long politicians have shied away from that honest conversation.”
