Our Comic Relief project is celebrated on BBC Radio Merseyside!

This week Community Integrated Care was featured on BBC Radio Merseyside as part of the 2019 Red Nose Day launch, celebrating our exciting collaboration with charity, Live Music Now.  

Live Music Now is a charity that delivers interactive music programmes to people in care homes and thanks to a generous grant of £20,000 from Comic Relief, several of our Older People’s Services have been welcoming the team, who have used music to bring joy to the lives of the people we support!

Caroline Broughall, Regional Manager for our Older People’s Services, spoke on the breakfast radio show this week highlighting the huge impact of the grant. She commented, “It really has made such a massive difference to the people who live in our services – the money we received from Comic Relief has assisted us massively in providing this life-changing project.”

She continued, “The Live Music Now project aims to promote engagement, participation and communication amongst our residents and their staff teams – it’s really helping us to foster a lively environment where residents and colleagues are happy to live and work.”

In the sessions the people we support spend time chatting and reminiscing with the musicians and developing a social bond. They also have opportunities to learn how to play instruments, sing and dance – with research supporting the idea of music therapy having significant benefits for those living with dementia.
