Our new services open in Clackmannanshire!

Community Integrated Care has opened two, brand-new specialist Supported Living Services in Clackmannanshire, Scotland, enabling people with learning disabilities and mental health concerns to live independently in their own homes.

Trustee visits Dollar Service

Nestled in the tranquil Ochil Hills, the two new services have been developed by our charity in partnership with Clackmannan & Stirling Health & Social Care Partnership, Inclusion Housing and Balmoral Beecroft Investments to meet the support needs of local people, increase their independence and become a part of their local community.

Located in the village of Dollar, Station Road proudly opened its doors in December when the first person supported proudly moved in. Previously a traditional care home, the building has been renovated into four modern apartments, fully equipped to provide an environment for people to flourish in their new homes.

Brook Street, Alva and the Support Team

Meanwhile, just a stone’s throw away in neighbouring village, Alva, our brand-new state-of-the-art Brook Street service opened at the end of February after an exciting, but sometimes challenging, two years of development!

This purpose-built service has eight one-bedroom apartments for people with a range of support needs and has been designed from the ground up with the people we support at its core. Similarly to Station Road, community is integral to Brook Street and the building even showcases a piece of artwork on its walls to pay homage to the history and culture of the local area.

Both services cultivate further independence through the implementation of innovative technology enabled care, such as door sensors, alert buttons and two-way video communications, giving the people we support further autonomy and choice.

Allison Cochrane, Managing Director for Scotland, said: “Station Road and Brook Street are both really special services, that have the people supported and their communities at heart. For many who will be moving in, this will be their first home as they transition from children’s social care services or institutionalised settings, and for others they will be coming back to their local community after years of living away from their home county.

Our charity’s mobilisation and operational teams have put so much into making sure these transitions run smoothly and that the services are the very best they could be for the people supported. They have engaged with families, visited the people who we will be supporting, and worked with their current care providers to better understand each individual, and ensure that truly personalised support packages will be in place from the moment that they move in.

These incredible services and our fantastic support teams will enable the people we support to enjoy more freedom and develop new skills, in order to live fulfilling lives within their communities.”

Nicola Cochrane, Service Manager in Mental Health & Learning Disabilities, at Clackmannan & Stirling Health and Social Care Partnership said: “We have been working with Community Integrated Care for some time now, working collaboratively to ensure people, their families and carers are placed at the heart of everything we do. In our experience, the team at Community Integrated Care go above and beyond for people within their care, and these new services are a prime example of their dedication to the people they support.”

Sarah Waters, Business Director at Inclusion Housing: “Inclusion Group are thrilled to be working in partnership with Community Integrated Care on these specialised supported housing schemes for the benefit of local residents and the community, and we look forward to welcoming our first tenants to their new homes.”

Nav Singh Kalkat, Director of Balmoral Beecroft, said: “Balmoral Beecroft has been delighted to work with Community Integrated Care in the regeneration of a brownfield site in the location of the former Alva Glen public house, Brook Street, Alva. We are thrilled with the completed development, and hope that the occupants will be over the moon with their new homes.”

Over the next couple of months, both Brook Street and Station Road will continue to welcome people supported into their new homes. However, exciting developments for Clackmannanshire are set to continue with another new supported living service planned to open nearby in Tullibody, in the coming months.
