Prince’s Trust brighten up gardens

Staff and residents from a Community Integrated Care service in Hampshire were delighted to welcome a team of hard-working volunteers from the Prince’s Trust to help get the gardens ready for summer!

The team of twelve donned their overalls and paintbrushes to help transform the grounds of Seafarers Walk, a registered care home in Hayling Island, Hampshire. They created a plan with the residents in mind; the aim to make the garden a more enjoyable and pleasant environment for them.

The industrious group took full advantage of the glorious Hampshire sunshine and worked tirelessly painting the sheds, summer houses and fencing, as well as making a raised vegetable plot and flower bed which would be accessible for residents.

The Prince’s Trust is a charity focussed on helping young people change their lives by offering training programmes, mentoring support, and financial grants in order to help build confidence and motivation. The team celebrated their successful week’s work at Seafarers walk by kindly arranging a BBQ for the staff and residents.

Helen Brown, Manager at Seafarers Walk, says: “I can’t thank the team enough for the excellent work they have done here for us. Their dedication was amazing and it is wonderful to see young people willing to devote their time to such a wonderful project. I’d also like to thank Hayling Hardware for very kindly offering us a fantastic discount and free delivery on some of the equipment that the Prince’s Trust used on the garden.”

She continues: “Everyone involved has helped to make the garden a more accessible, pleasant and practical environment for the people who live here, which they can now really enjoy throughout the summer.”
