Charlotte Grange Care Home is Fighting Fit
Charlotte Grange Care Home in Flaxton Street, Hartlepool, which is part of the award-winning charity Community Integrated Care, have got a new Activities Co-ordinator, Kirsty McMullen, who’s certainly putting residents through their paces!
Kirsty, a fitness fanatic who enjoys ‘Boxercise’, when she goes to her local gym, decided to bring her boxing gloves and pads into the homes to give it a trial to see if residents would enjoy it too. It was an instant success and as a result has now become part of the weekly activity regime. Everyone has found it enjoyable and it has certainly brought lots of smiles and laughter into the home.
Talking about the new initiative Kirsty, Activities Co-ordinator said, “Everyone certainly enjoys the ‘Boxercise’ session. It’s amazing how much strength some of the residents still have. I go around each of the households and everyone looks forward to their turn”.
Wendy Nicholson, Services Manager at Charlotte Grange Care Home said “It has certainly been a big hit with all the residents, the fun they have is great to watch, the woman seem to love it more that the men, which I’d love to know why!”
Alison Tait, Community Integrated Care’s Chief Operating Officer was delighted at success “It’s great to see residents getting involved in activities. The ‘Boxercise’ has certainly proven to be a huge success and it is delightful to hear interaction and laughter about the home.”
