Celebrate International Day of Charity
At Community Integrated Care, we are always excited to be involved in numerous activities that are celebrated via worldwide National Holidays. Thursday 5th September saw International Day Of Charity, and what better way to raise some dough for our very own ‘We Care Fund’ than through a classic Bake Sale!
The ‘We Care Fund’ is a central pot that is continuously filled through charitable initiatives and events throughout the year. Our services across our organisation can dip into the ‘We Care Fund’ by applying for grants to further enhance the lives of the people we support.
We held an egg-cellent ‘Bring & Buy’ cake sale with the method of bake it, or fake it. The turnout was fantastic! We want to thank everybody that took part, whether that be by baking delicious goods or buying tasty treats – or even tagging along to donate for a little lunchtime delight!
With an office smelling divine, our wonderful judge, Darren Goorwappa, took to the cake stand to taste and announce the winner of the best homemade treat. He was firm but fair, because, as they say, you only get what you pudding.
It was a crumbly start, but Julie Roberts whisked her way to the top with her decadent ‘cakepops’! Unfortunately, she was out the office, so Tania stepped up to the plate to accept The Golden Spoon award.
The bake-off fun also spread to Heartly Green and EachStep Blackley, as they held their own cake sales in celebration of the day!
