We join social care rally with FSCC
On Sunday 22nd September, colleagues and people supported by Community Integrated Care joined the Future Social Care Coalition’s (FSCC) Labour Party Conference fringe event at Nova Scotia, Mann Island in Liverpool, in a rally for social care.
The event – Fair’s Fair: Unlocking the power of care – saw politicians, MPs, people who work in social care and people with lived experience come together to discuss the positive impact of the care sector; how we can work together to fix social care; and the importance of fair pay and recognition for frontline colleagues.
Not only was our charity a proud sponsor of the event, we were also delighted to see one of our Regional Managers for the North West, Caroline Hanlon, and Tauseef Iqbal, a person we support in the Stockport, join the rally alongside guest speakers, including Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, Wes Streeting.
Caroline and Tauseef shared their experiences of working in and drawing on social care with attendees, demonstrating just how important the sector is and how social care changes lives.
Reflecting on some of the incredible opportunities and experiences he’s had with our charity over the past twelve months, and the impact of his brilliant support team, Tauseef told the audience, “without my Support Workers, I wouldn’t be able to live my best life possible.”
Speaking of the event, Caroline said, “I’m privileged to work with hundreds of people who live their dreams of enabling others to live theirs. I was proud to represent our charity at the FSCC’s social care rally and demonstrate to politicians and members of the public just how incredible our sector is. I was also really proud to see Tauseef stand up and share his experiences too – he’s achieved so much over the past twelve months and his story really emphasises how investing in social care, so that people have the right care and support in place, can make an enormous difference to people’s lives.”
Community Integrated Care was also proud to sponsor the the Future Social Care Coalition’s (FSCC) fringe events at this year’s Conservative and Liberal Democrat Party Conferences.
