We respond to sector consultation and inquiry
Over the past few weeks, Community Integrated Care have being sharing our insights and expertise to raise awareness of the key challenges faced by our social care sector, and advise on the changes needed to address them.
Sharing our views to help shape a new 10 Year Health Plan for England, our charity responded to the NHS Change Consultation in November, outlining the importance of ensuring strong and sustainable social care services for the success of our wider health and social care sector.
Within our response, we emphasised the need for working towards greater integration of health and social care systems to provide seamless services for people with learning disabilities who have physical health, mental health, or social care needs.
This month, we also contributed our insights and experiences, responding to the Health and Social Care Commons Select Committee’s inquiry on the cost of inaction in social care.
We delved into how inaction in social care is impacting the people we support, our colleagues and wider society, and outlined crucial areas where change is needed, including:
- Reducing health inequalities for people with learning disabilities
- Improving pay and workforce structure
- Improving care commissioning
- Better use of digital ways of working
- Fixing social care to fix the NHS
- Valuing the economic impact of investing social care
