We sign Age-Friendly Employer Pledge

This National Inclusion Week, Community Integrated Care is proud to sign the Age-Friendly Employer Pledge.

We're an Age-Friendly Employer.Supported by the Centre for Ageing Better, the pledge reflects our charity’s dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment for colleagues of all ages. By signing this pledge, we are committing to:

  • Recognising the Value of Older Workers: We acknowledge the critical role that workers in their 50s and 60s play in filling skill and labour shortages, driving productivity, and fostering innovation.
  • Improving Recruitment and Retention: We will take action to enhance the recruitment, retention, and development of older workers, ensuring they can thrive in a multigenerational workforce.
  • Promoting Flexible Working: We will offer flexible working options and career development opportunities, ensuring that all colleagues have the support they need to balance work with other life commitments.

Alongside signing the pledge, our charity has also developed a new Retirement Policy. Created in collaboration with a focus group of retirement-age colleagues, the policy is designed to provide comprehensive support and guidance to colleagues considering retirement, ensuring a smooth transition from work to the next chapter of life whilst also supporting individual choices around working arrangements.

We’ll also be offering a comprehensive pre-retirement support programme in partnership with Planned Future, providing colleagues with the opportunity to access a one-to-one consultation with Planned Futures financial advisors to discuss their personal circumstances.

Our charity’s Head of Employee Relations, Sarah Mahoney, said, “We are really pleased to be launching our new Retirement Policy and signing the Age-Friendly Employer Pledge, furthering our commitment to support colleagues at every stage of their careers. Retirement is a significant milestone, and we understand that planning for it can be complex and challenging, so it’s really important to us that we support colleagues who are approaching or going through this transitional period.”
