We sign sector’s letter to Scottish Government

Community Integrated Care has joined over 100 other organisations in signing a joint letter to Scottish Government, calling for an increase in pay for social care colleagues.

Led by the Coalition of Care & Support Providers in Scotland (CCPS), the letter is addressed to First Minister, Humza Yousaf, and has garnered support from organisations across civil society – including anti-poverty groups, faith leaders, carers’ representatives, equality organisations and many more – all joining social care providers in the call for action.

The letter reflects on the First Minister’s announcement of the new base rate of pay for social care and support staff of £12 from April 2024 in September’s Programme for Government. Highlighting the inadequacy of the pay increase – only matching the updated Real Living Wage – the joint correspondence campaigns for further investment in the social care workforce, that truly reflects the invaluable societal contribution made by social care staff in supporting people to thrive and live independent lives.
