We win Care Innovator Award at National Final
Community Integrated Care is proud to have been awarded the prestigious Care Innovator accolade at the Great British Care Awards National final in Birmingham on Friday 14th March.
Our Learning Disability Super League, created in partnership with the Rugby Football League took home the trophy, which recognises the programme’s impact in making Rugby League accessible to all, providing life-changing opportunities for people with learning disabilities and autism, to play for their favourite Rugby League clubs in front of thousands of fans.
The Learning Disability Super League was up against some strong competition in the Care Innovator category, including three of our own projects – Taking Charge campaign, ‘Save our Wild Isles’ and The Big Adventure.
We are delighted that several of our projects have been recognised as contenders at a national level and are pleased to see our Learning Disability Super League crowned as winner. Now in its fifth year, the Learning Disability Super League has had an impact on thousands of people within the social care sector and beyond.
Community Integrated Care’s Director of Partnerships and Communities, John Hughes, said, “We are incredibly proud that the Community Integrated Care Learning Disability Super League has been recognised as the standout innovation in the care sector. This ground-breaking programme shows the impact that can be made by thinking about support differently and forming ambitious partnerships with real vision.
This project changes hundreds of lives every week – bringing communities together, transforming health and social inequalities, and creating lifelong memories.
We would like to thank our partners in the Rugby Football League, RL Commercial and Super League, who share this honour. We are especially grateful to every club, foundation, coach, volunteer, family member and player who make this such an inclusive, impactful and inspiring programme.”
