Welcoming our first service in Worcester

Community Integrated Care is proud to have opened our charity’s first supported living service in Worcester, designed to support autistic people and people with learning disabilities, to live independently in their own homes.

The support team at Brickfields supported living in WorcesterLocated in the heart of the Brickfields community, the service was brought to life through close collaboration between our charity and Worcestershire County Council, the Herefordshire & Worcestershire Integrated Care Board (ICB), Touchstone Properties, Inclusion Housing.

For many of the people moving into Brickfields, this will be the first time they have lived independently, having previously been supported by family or children’s services.

Made up of seven new-build bungalows, each is modern and person-centred; built from the ground up to meet the unique needs of each person moving in. Through the use of assistive technology such as door sensors, the properties also enable people to have as much independence and choice over their support as possible, whilst remaining safe in their homes.

Edd Terrey, Managing Director for Community Integrated Care, said, “We’re thrilled to see Brickfields open its doors and begin making a difference in the lives of the people we support. Establishing this service has been a real labour of love for everyone involved; from designing the bungalows themselves to meet the diverse needs of the people supported, to ensuring we recruit people with the right values and provide them with specialist person-centred training so that our teams provide the very best support possible.”

He continued, “Brickfields truly epitomises our charity’s vision of ensuring people can live full and independent lives in homes that meet their individual needs and enable them to stay connected to their communities. We’re incredibly proud of the partnerships that have made this possible, and look forward to seeing the people we support thrive in their new homes.”

Gavin Tippins, Regional Manager at Community Integrated Care, said, “It’s been an amazing experience seeing the development of Brickfields and now it’s opening. We worked closely with families, other care providers and the local authority to really get to know the people we support before they moved in, and we’ve built some really strong relationships within the local community too. Knowing that we’ve been at the forefront of creating these fantastic homes for the people we support makes all the hard work worthwhile. The whole process has been a testament to the power of collaboration, and I’m so proud to have been involved.”

Councillor Richard Morris, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care at Worcestershire County Council said: “I’m really pleased that this brilliant service has now opened its doors, and hopefully it will support people from across the county who need it both now and in the future.  I was delighted to be invited to see first-hand, how it is a great space for the people living in it to develop their skills, whilst also experiencing freedom and independence. I look forward to hearing the positive impact the service has, as people continue to settle in.”
