You First is our charity’s magazine for supporters of Community Integrated Care. In each exciting edition we showcase the very best of what’s happening across our organisation and give you an insight into life in our great charity.

Community Integrated Care and The Rugby Football League have created a first-of-its-kind easy read guide for a major UK sporting event – The Challenge Cup Final. The guide offers easy-to-read information about the Men’s and Women’s finals, with clear and concise text and imagery suitable for all audiences.

It’s been co-created by fans with learning disabilities and who themselves access care and support daily – Community Integrated Care’s ‘Support Squad’, whose role is to help organisations reach their inclusivity potential.

Within the pages of this special publication, we’ve captured some of Community Integrated Care’s biggest highlights from 2023 and reflected on our Best Lives Possible journey so far.

This guide will help you to understand the sport of Rugby League. This document has been created by the people we support with the aim of helping more people who have learning disabilities to enjoy this sport.

Open Eye Gallery have worked with project partners across the health, care, justice, youth and educational sectors to embed a socially engaged model of working, co-authoring projects in partnership with local and national communities.

This report features Community Integrated Care’s work with Open Eye Gallery at our Watch Factory service, seeing two photographers in residence working alongside the people we support to develop photography skills and experience their local area in a new way.

Our year-long project with artist Tadhg Devlin, Bound/Frayed also featured in the report. Together, the people we support, colleagues and Tadhg co-authored images which represent the experience of working in the care sector in some of the most challenging moments, whilst also celebrating the everyday work to support people who access social care, which is often hidden from the public.

As our charity stepped further into our Best Lives Possible plan, this publication chronicles our phenomenal progression; from transforming the support we deliver, to leading the way in workforce wellbeing, and developing even more powerful community partnerships.

Your accessible arts and crafts toolkit.

Download our Rugby League World Cook Book, created by people we support to celebrate the cuisines of nations that participated at the Rugby League World Cup.

With 13 recipes inspired by nation’s that competed at the tournament last month, including a ‘Sizzling Spanish Paella’, ‘Lebanese Banana Bread’ and ‘Australian Prawn Skewers’, the project has made a significant difference to people’s lives, inspiring people with learning disabilities to develop kitchen skills and achieve a dream of becoming published in a cookbook.

From saying our final farewell to a fantastic CEO, to incredible transformations and outstanding opportunities – this You First edition shares how our teams have raised the bar to deliver the Best Lives Possible.
